Collection: MAROC THE LABEL
In 2019, during a trip to Morocco I came to the coastal town of Essaouira. Here, as I lost my way through the souks searching for the perfect pair of sandals, I found a small artisan shopfront.
I soon met the owner Nawal and learnt that she runs a women’s cooperative, employing around 70 local women who have passed down generational skills in handcrafting sandals using high quality natural raffia.
So impressed by Nawal’s business and the beautiful sandals her team create, I was inspired to design my own capsule range and launch Maroc the Label.
Maroc sandals are one of a kind and have been carefully handmade from carefully sourced materials. Therefore, no two pairs are identical, and some may have natural imperfections that show their unique process.
To minimise waste, Maroc sandals are ordered in small batches and sent to customers in Australian recycled packaging.
Now more than ever, as the international tourism industry has crashed to a standstill, each pair of sandals support Nawal, her team and the wider community.
